We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Abbey Arnold Cremation Services
Gary Lynn Fishback was born on June 25, 1958, in Rapid City, SD to Ben Fishback and Lavada Cox Fishback and was the second son of four children. He served in the Air Force for 3 years prior to meeting the great love of his life, Carol Southall, who brought two children to the marriage, Erika and Seth, in 1980. A year later they welcomed their first daughter together, Sheri, and 5 years later, their second, Regina.
He received multiple vocational certificates in his thirst for knowledge, providing him with a variety of interesting professions in his life. He was set to retire from CC Enterprises in Grand Junction within a year or two, after about 20 years of service with the company, most recently as a Traffic Control Supervisor. The safety of his crew was of paramount importance and everyone that worked with him held him in high regard.
Gary was a very selfless person, eager to share what he had and to share experiences with others whenever possible. He was a major fan of both the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. He was so proud of giving up a nice spa trip so he could take all his kids to a Broncos game with great seats. It was a precious time for all who attended, and the team favored us with a win that day. Gary was an avid outdoorsman, inheriting his love of hunting, fishing, and camping from his parents, and sharing that passion with all his children and extended family. He had a great sense of humor, always quick with a joke and a laugh. He loved to make others laugh and play pranks on those he loved the most.
His siblings were blessed to have a relaxing New Year together playing canasta, telling stories, and enjoying family time. His family time was cherished above all else and he was very much looking forward to retirement to spend more time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren on the Front Range.
Gary passed away suddenly on January 10th, 2022. Gary was preceded in death by his sister Donna Coulter and her husband Bill, as well as his parents, Bennie and Lavada. He is survived by his brother Rick, sister Jan and her husband Kirk, ex-wife Carol Fishback, as well as his four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dog Missy.
His Laughter, kindness, wit, and stories will be truly missed! We Love you, DAD!
